For daily maintenance of Pimax devices, including cleaning, storage, and routine care, please watch the video tutorial:
I. Daily Use
Before use: Check the body, lenses, head strap, and faceplate for cracks, looseness, peeling, or blockage; ensure buttons and ports are intact, and stop using the device if anything is abnormal; clear obstacles, ensure the space is open and flat, with a dry and non-slip floor; prohibit direct strong light, high temperature, humidity, dust, and grease smoke environments; confirm controller battery levels, base station stability, and cable integrity; adjust the head strap, IPD, and focus; clean your face first if sweaty or oily.
During use: Handle with care; do not pull the head strap or cables; press buttons gently; avoid bumps, drops, and impacts; single sessions should not exceed 40 minutes, with total daily use not exceeding 2 hours; reduce accordingly for the elderly, children, and those with sensitive constitutions, and children must be accompanied by an adult; strictly prohibit pointing the lenses at strong light sources such as sunlight, spotlights, or laser lights (this will permanently burn the screen); keep away from heat sources such as radiators and stoves; avoid sweat, water stains, and beverage splashes; prohibit use in bathrooms or misty environments; avoid frequent plugging and unplugging of data cables; do not plug or unplug the power supply arbitrarily while powered; do not block the cooling vents.
After use: Exit all applications and shut down or hibernate normally; prohibit direct power cuts or forced shutdowns; remove the controllers and coil the cables neatly; wipe sweat, grease, and dust from the lenses and faceplate; return the device to its place and close the dust cover.
II. Cleaning and Maintenance
Principles: Power off throughout; dry wiping as the primary method and damp wiping as the secondary; prohibit spraying liquids directly onto the device; prohibit wiping with hard tools.
Lenses: Use a dedicated microfiber lens cloth or dust-free lens paper; strictly prohibit paper towels, wet wipes, towels, or clothing fabrics; first use an air blower to remove loose dust, then gently wipe in a single direction; for stubborn stains, spray a small amount of dedicated cleaning solution onto the cloth (never spray directly onto the lens), wipe gently while slightly damp, then polish with a dry cloth; prohibit corrosive liquids such as alcohol, disinfectant, glass cleaner, or acetone; perform simple dust removal after each use, and deep clean once a week.
Faceplate: Wipe silicone faceplates with a slightly damp dust-free cloth; for stubborn stains, gently wash with neutral clean water and reinstall after completely air-drying; sponge and fabric faceplates must not be washed with water—regularly absorb dust with a dry cloth and gently disinfect with dedicated disinfecting wipes; for shared use, disinfect before each change of user; prohibit long-term wiping with high-concentration alcohol; replace sponge faceplates every 3–6 months and silicone faceplates every 6–12 months; replace immediately if moldy, deformed, or damaged.
Body, Head Strap, and Ports: Wipe the body with a dry microfiber cloth; for stubborn stains, wipe with a slightly damp soft cloth and dry immediately; woven head straps may be gently washed periodically and air-dried naturally in the shade—prohibit sun exposure and tumble drying; wipe leather head straps with a dry cloth and maintain with a small amount of leather care solution; sweep ports and cooling vents with a dry soft brush; prohibit prying with metal needles or hard objects; prohibit moisture and dust accumulation.
Controllers: Wipe surfaces, buttons, and touchpads with a dry cloth; clean gaps with a soft brush; regularly check the battery compartment and clean dust and oxidation stains; remove batteries during long-term non-use to prevent leakage and corrosion.
III. Storage and Stowing
Environment: Dry, cool, ventilated, and dust-free; keep away from humidity, grease smoke, dust, and direct sunlight; avoid air conditioner outlets, radiators, and appliance heat sources; suitable temperature 0°C–35°C, humidity 40%–60%; prohibit low-temperature freezing and high-temperature sun exposure; prohibit long-term placement on soft clutter surfaces such as sofas, beds, or carpets; avoid pet biting and children accidentally knocking or dropping the device.
Storage: Prefer the original storage case/bag, keep the head strap naturally extended, without forced bending or squeezing; coil cables neatly, avoiding sharp folds and knots, and store them separately; for long-term storage (over 7 days), keep the battery at 50%–60%—prohibit storing at full charge or depleted charge; remove controller batteries, clean the device, place it in the storage bag, and put it in a dry and stable place; power once a month to recharge and maintain.
IV. Regular Maintenance and Fault Prevention
Daily: Clean the lenses and faceplate after use, stow neatly, and check the appearance for damage.
Weekly: Deep clean the main unit, controllers, and port dust; check cable and head strap firmness; test buttons and positioning functions.
Monthly: Update the system to the latest official version, clear the cache, and check battery endurance and perform maintenance.
Quarterly: Check faceplate and head strap wear, replace accessories as needed, comprehensively clean the cooling system, and investigate hidden faults.
Fault Prevention: Blurry image or glare—eliminate direct strong light, regularly clean the lenses, do not use corrosive liquids, and replace aging faceplates promptly; positioning failure or disconnection—keep sensor lenses clean, ensure no strong light interference in the environment, and regularly remove dust from ports; stuttering or freezing—do not block cooling vents, avoid high-temperature operation, regularly clear the cache, and do not install unofficial plugins; battery swelling or sharp drop in endurance—follow proper charging and discharging, prohibit overcharging, deep discharge, and high-temperature use, and regularly recharge during long-term non-use.
VI. Strictly Prohibited
Strictly prohibit pointing the lenses at strong light sources such as sunlight, lasers, or strong spotlights, to prevent permanent screen burns.
Strictly prohibit washing the entire device with water or soaking the device, and strictly prohibit spraying liquids onto the body, lenses, or ports.
Strictly prohibit wiping the lens coating area with corrosive liquids such as alcohol, disinfectant, or glass cleaner.
Strictly prohibit violently pulling cables or head straps, and strictly prohibit dropping, impacting, squeezing, or bending the device.
Strictly prohibit prolonged use in high-temperature, humid, dusty, grease-smoke, or open strong-light environments.
Strictly prohibit disassembling, modifying, or replacing with non-original accessories without authorization; unauthorized disassembly will void the warranty.
Strictly prohibit children from using the device without adult supervision, and strictly prohibit prolonged wearing that causes physical discomfort.
Strictly prohibit continuing to force use after a device fault, to avoid worsening the fault and causing hazards such as short circuits or fire.
VII. Safety Notice and After-Sales
If you experience dizziness, nausea, eye strain, skin allergies, or other discomfort during use, immediately remove the device, stop using it, and rest; if the device gets water inside, is dropped or damaged, emits smoke or abnormal noise, or overheats abnormally, immediately cut the power and stop the device—do not power it on again, and promptly contact official after-sales for inspection and repair; faults caused by unofficial modification, human damage, or non-compliant operation are not covered by the warranty; this manual applies to conventional consumer-grade VR devices, and special models may be adjusted with reference to the official manual.
Note: Scientific and standardized use and maintenance can effectively extend the service life of the VR headset, stabilize device performance, and ensure an immersive experience. Please persist in routine maintenance over the long term.
