A: This issue applies to scenarios where Valve Index controllers are used with a Pimax Dream Air headset in the Pimax OpenXR runtime mode.

Symptom description: In Pimax OpenXR runtime mode, the controller grip force sensing threshold cannot be adjusted. Grip adjustment settings saved in SteamVR mode become ineffective after switching to Pimax OpenXR, and the user must grip the controller extremely hard to trigger the grab action, affecting the normal user experience. The user prefers the Pimax OpenXR mode because its performance is better than the mode of running SteamVR on top.

Handling steps:

  1. Check whether the OpenXR runtime in the Pimax Play client has been set to Pimax OpenXR, and confirm that the runtime mode matches.

  2. Switch back to SteamVR runtime mode and verify whether the grip adjustment function works normally, to rule out controller hardware failure.

  3. Check the Pimax Play client version and confirm whether it has been updated to the latest stable version.

  4. If the issue recurs, exports and provide the Pimax client log package for subsequent technical analysis.

  5. The current version of the Pimax OpenXR driver does not yet support synchronously reading the grip threshold configuration from SteamVR controller bindings. The official team has included this feature in its future development plan.

  6. If you need to use the grip adjustment function, please temporarily switch to SteamVR OpenXR or native SteamVR runtime mode.

  7. Wait for a Pimax Play client update; Once updated, support for this feature will be available.
