A: This applies especially to Pimax Crystal Super controllers whose Grip (side-grip) button or B button is physically stuck, does not spring back, or does not respond when pressed, requiring gap cleaning or calibration repair in Pimax Play.

Symptom description: Due to spring tolerance inside the controller, wear from use, or small debris and dust entering button gaps, the following issues may occur:

  • Joystick drift: When the joystick is not being moved, the in-game view or character automatically moves irregularly in a certain direction (joystick deadzone offset).

  • Sticky button that does not spring back: The side Grip button or the top A/B buttons get stuck after being pressed and do not spring back crisply. The controller keeps sending "grip" or "pressed" commands to the system.

  • No response when pressed: Low controller battery or corrupted calibration parameters cause the system to fail to recognize the grip button being pressed.

Troubleshooting steps

  1. Physical cleaning for stuck Grip and A/B buttons

  • Clean the mechanical gap: Carefully inspect the narrow gap around the stuck Grip button (or A/B button) and check for lint, accumulated finger grease, sweat, or dust debris.

  • Soft brush and compressed air: Use a dry, clean, soft brush (or anti-static soft brush) to gently brush the button gap. If available, use a dedicated electronics compressed air can (or air blower) to blow into the gap and expel debris.

  • Repeated pressing to reactivate the spring: After cleaning, gently press the Grip button 10–15 times with your thumb to test whether the internal spring and engagement stop return to a crisp, smooth response.

  1. Perform low-level button and grip calibration in Pimax Play

If the button springs back smoothly but still does not trigger in the Pimax Play client:

  1. Open the Pimax Play client and make sure the controller is powered on and successfully connected to the headset.

  2. Go to "Device Settings" → "Controller Settings."

  3. Find the "Grip & Trigger Calibration" option.

  4. Follow the on-screen graphical guide and press and hold the corresponding Grip button or trigger to the bottom.

  5. Release the button and let it spring back naturally. The system will automatically correct the potentiometer travel deviation parameters. Restart the controller after calibration to restore normal response.

  6. Joystick drift and deadzone reset

  • Perform joystick calibration: In Pimax Play's controller settings, select "Joystick Calibration" and follow the concentric-circle guide to move the joystick to the maximum edge in a circle 3 times to reset the neutral offset.

  • Customize the joystick deadzone: If slight offset remains after calibration, appropriately increase the "Controller Joystick Deadzone" threshold in Pimax Play's device controls to filter out minor drift.

If the controller remains abnormal after the above steps, please provide the relevant information so we can determine the next step.
