How to resolve abnormalities when the Dream Air headset is used on a 6DOF motion platform?

A: This issue typically occurs when using an e-racing labs 6DOF motion platform (with Simhub motion compensation). The headset's built-in SLAM tracking incorrectly follows the platform's overall movement, causing the VR display position to shift and become unusable.
Possible cause: Visible-light SLAM tracking relies on static feature points in the surrounding environment for positional tracking. When the device moves together with the motion platform, if the environment lacks sufficiently stable static reference features, the tracking algorithm may mistakenly interpret the platform's movement as the user's head movement, causing tracking offset. The initial diagnosis is insufficient static features in the environment, which can be verified by adding static feature points.
Troubleshooting steps
Confirm the fault scenario: SLAM tracking drift is triggered when the motion platform moves the device as a whole, while static use is normal.
Reduce dynamic interference: Rotate the front monitor, which is fixed in a non-moving area, to be perpendicular to the direction of motion, or adjust its angle so the screen content does not face the headset, reducing dynamic texture interference with SLAM feature extraction.
Add static feature points: Add 10 printed QR codes (or high-contrast static features such as posters) to the blank wall in front of the motion platform or on desktops within the headset's field of view, providing additional recognizable static reference points for SLAM.
After adjustment, tracking stability improves significantly and meets normal use requirements.
